I do most of the computer-based Sunday comics using Adobe Flash (which, I know, is hardly the right tool for the job.) I just am comfortable and can usually work quickly, even if something like Photoshop would give me better results.
If you wanted details, I made a series of textures that were just parallel lines at varying distances. I masked areas out in the different textures and overlayed them to get the crosshatching.

This is really impressive. I like the inking/toning technique you used. How’d you do it?
